[The Nexus Today](https://links.thenexus.today/?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net) is a news aggregator, highlighting interesting links from around the web on a variety of topics. Unlike Google News, Reddit, and other popular news aggregators, it’s designed with an explicit focus on accessibility, privacy, diversity and justice. You can read more about it [here](https://thenexus.today/?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net) – or check it out at [https://links.thenexus.today](https://links.thenexus.today/?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net).

One of the advantages of the approach I've taken is that it's fairly easy to add new topics. After [feedback from the Oracle for Transfeminist Technologies](https://thenexusofprivacy.net/starting-the-new-year-with-the-oracle-for-transfeminist-technologies/), I added Accountability last week. In the aftermath of the January 6 attack on the Capitol, and with warnings about ongoing threats of violent actions around the country, I added the timely topics of Insurrection and Impeachment over the weekend.

To use the site, pick a topic from the menus. If you like visuals, there's also a "show images" option. Or if you prefer an Apple News/reddit-style display, with just the headlines and smaller images, you can use the alternate link at [https://links.thenexus.today/news](https://links.thenexus.today/news?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net). \[I know, I know, that's kind of awkward ... I'll integrate it better soon.\]

Right now stories about the insurrection are unsurprisingly at the top of the Politics front page. Still, there's a lot of other important stuff happening as well – the top stories in the Tech section are currently [Millions of people uploaded photos to the Ever app. Then the company used them to develop facial recognition tools](https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/millions-people-uploaded-photos-ever-app-then-company-used-them-n1003371?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net), [Leaked Location Data Shows Another Muslim Prayer App Tracking Users](https://www.vice.com/en/article/xgz4n3/muslim-app-location-data-salaat-first?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net), [Experts weigh in on National Guard monitoring protests](https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/who-decides-when-there-are-helicopters-experts-weigh-national-guard-n1253599?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net)(discussing the George Floyd protests, not the current insurrection), and [A New (Non-)Privacy Policy from WhatsApp? \[A comparison between messaging applications\]](https://smex.org/a-new-non-privacy-policy-from-whatsapp-a-comparison-between-messaging-applications/?ref=thenexusofprivacy.net).

And if you're thinking that these look a lot like the links that I include in updates here on JEDII Tech, that's not a coincidence – most of the links in the link roundups do indeed come from The Nexus Today. The site operates mostly automatic (with a limited amount of editing); I cherry-pick some of the best links for the newsletter. Right now, that involves cut-and-paste, but one of the things on my list is to streamline things.
